Marie's Field Study

Final Visit     Today I made my last field visit for this project. It was snowing today, so it was a perfect day for my last field study. The snow made the park look so beautiful!  It was also very cold outside, so I made a shorter visit than usual. I would have loved to spend more time at the park though.      I really enjoyed this project. I normally don't have a lot of time to be outdoors, so it was fun to have an excuse to go to the park. I've enjoyed taking in the beauty of God's creation while also  making observations and learning something new. God's world is really amazing and I think I appreciate it more after all this time outside! Today was a beautiful day, and I made some exciting observations! Field Notes Date : Monday, November 13, 2023 Time : 3:25pm-3:45pm Climate Conditions :  Sunny, clear blue skies Temperature : 55℉ Length of Day : 7:03am-5:54pm (10 hours, 51 minutes) Organism Observations :     My most exciting observation was also the first observation I made when I got to my spot. I looked down at the trail and I was so excited to see two types of animal tracks! There were deer tracks throughout the trail, and the other set of tracks came from an animal I couldn't identify. They were paw prints with long claws. Each paw print had 4 claws. I'm thinking it might be a raccoon. Of course, it could have been a dog, but dogs don't usually have very long claws, so I think the tracks were from a wild animal. I was really excited when I found the animal tracks.      It's been a while since my last visit- I didn't want to go to the park in the rain, and there have been lots of rainy days lately! Today was a nice fall day, so I decided it was the perfect day for my fourth field visit.      Many of the other trees in the park still had their leaves, but when  I got to my spot, most of the leaves were gone! I was so surprised.  Last visit, the trees were still very green, and this visit, the leaves had already fallen.  I expected the park to look different, but I wasn't expecting the change to be so dramatic!  To be honest, I  was a little disappointed at first.  I wish I could have seen the park when the trees still had their colorful fall leaves.      However, the trail was still beautiful, and I  got to see amazing things (like bird's nests!) that had been hidden by leaves. I visited my field study location for the third time this weekend. In just two weeks since my last visit, the park has changed so much that I almost didn't recognize the trail at first! It had just rained and the ground was very wet, so I'm glad I had my rain boots! The park looks beautiful in the fall- the colors are changing, and leaves are falling everywhere. I noticed so much intricate detail in the leaves. Those leaves reminded me that God designed all of His creation with so much beauty and complexity. As I left the park, I could see the start of a beautiful sunset! I am so grateful to live in a place where there are many public parks and trails for everyone to enjoy.
